The razor is the radical solution, which leaves no chance for unwanted children. But not everyone (and everyone) will agree. There is no miracle method not to catch head lice. However, some gestures are instrumental in avoiding them.
- Vinegar Shampoo
White vinegar is a very effective remedy against lice and nits. Just add half the white vinegar to half the water. Wash the hair with the mixture. Leave on for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. You can also heat white vinegar. Put on the hair, and wrap it with a towel. Leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse. Hot vinegar suffocates and kills lice and nits.
Lice cannot tolerate temperature differences. It is recommended to rinse the infested hair with as hot water as possible (being careful not to burn the susceptible scalp of young children). Then make an ordinary shampoo to remove any smell of vinegar.
- With A Fine-Toothed Comb
After shampooing, meticulously comb the hair with a fine anti-lice comb (sold in pharmacies). After each pass, the comb must be wiped well so as not to contaminate new strands of hair. If necessary, use a compress placed between the teeth of the comb to take off the lice and nits better, then throw it away after each combed strand. When all the hair has been combed, rinse thoroughly with water as hot as possible before drying. It is recommended to repeat the operation on days 1,5,9 and 13 (4 times in all).
- Anti-Lice Mask
You can also prepare an anti-lice mask by mixing a few drops of tea tree essential oil in 4 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil. Leave on for 10 minutes, comb, and rinse well. Another possibility: sprinkle the hair with diatomaceous earth, leave it to act for at least one night, and comb and wash it. Repeat the operation if necessary.
- Healthier Shampoos
Not everyone is a fan of homemade mixtures. There are also healthier anti-lice products from lice doctors for example, especially at the beginning of an infestation.
- In The Dryer
Clothing, bedding, towels, hats, scarf, and hairbrush. Any object or textile likely to carry lice must be treated. Tip: put them in the dryer for 30 minutes at maximum temperature or soak them for 10 minutes in water at 60°C. People in contact with infected children must also receive treatment simultaneously as the children.
- Phytotherapy
Some pharmacists and clinics such as Lice Removal Service in Inland Empire, California for example have a “phytotherapy” section and make preparations based on essential oils that are effective in the fight against lice.
